Earlier in the year, CMS announced an expansion of the Home Health Value Based Purchasing model upon noting a significant average annual savings to Medicare. In the new proposed rules, CMS proposes to include all Medicare-certified home health agencies in this new HHVBP Model. This Model will start January 1, 2022 for CY2024 payment. CMS will use data calculated from CY2019 to establish scoring thresholds. The model will use the data already reported by HHA that includes: OASIS, Claims and HHCAHPS. Within the HHCAHPS, the five survey measures will account for 6% of the Overall HHVBP performance for a combined 30%. The five survey measures include: Recommend, Overall Rating, Team Discussion, Communication and Professional Care. Note: This includes the Willingness to Recommend item which was excluded from the HCAHPS VBP! Claims and OASIS data will each provide 35% of the remaining 100% total scoring.
